"THE GIRLS"

At That Girl we are blessed to have the most outgoing, friendly, helpful, fashion-conscious employees who are known as "THE GIRLS:"

Tressah is a bubbly, loud, adorable blonde who as the assistant manager is my right-hand woman.   You will not meet a soul who does immediately fall in love with her.  Tressah not only works at the store 30 hrs. a week, she has a second job, a 4 year old daughter, & is going to school to become a psychologist which includes not one, but two internships!  As if that isn't enough, she is wrapped up in her upcoming August wedding details.  I am exhausted just hearing about her life....thank God she's young!  Tressah is the one who helps me with the website and our great emails....& we have our best laughs doing them!

Martin is a manager in training, and lives & breathes fashion!  He can be totally Grosse Pointe or completely over the top with his wardrobe which includes everything from Ralph Lauren (who he loves) to animal print pants to his fabulous fur collar (pictured above & worn frequently).    He can tell you exactly what you should & shouldn't be wearing & you can feel comfortable taking his advice UNLESS he suggests harem pants which he loves & I despise!   His job includes writing the Fashionista Forum (which we are just starting so check back soon for Martin's musings). He also goes to school for business (yeah right...who's he kidding...I'd bet my life savings he'll end up in fashion).  Martin "feels" everything, i.e.  "I feel like that top is perfect for your body shape" or "I feel like we need to have thai for lunch."  When he's not working, you'll find him shopping (or partying!).

Courtney has been with That Girl since almost the beginning.  Hmmm...how do I describe Courtney??  She's 6' tall, always wears a hat, & speaks with an English accent (she has no idea where it came from...similar to Madonna I guess), & has the best vocabulary of anyone I have ever met.  Super smart (I'd bet she has a genius IQ), she loves school, learning different languages, & music. She's also a worker bee.  It's Courtney who helps me clean out the racks, move stuff around, and organize the store.  I'd be lost without her. I feel she's been pretty sheltered (I mean who do you know who's never had a toaster?) & sometimes has limited social skills.  As an example, she told a customer once "you will never fit into that dress" (she's honest, never mean).  Yikes!  When I talked to her about it, her response was "I never thought about the psychological implications of that."  That's Courtney & we all love her!

Anna has also been with me since the beginning, and as the youngest, she's our sweet angel.  Anna ALWAYS has a smile on her face, and fun & laughter abound when she's around.  She is always dressed in lots of color, and believes that necklaces are to be worn in multiples....the more the merrier...of course...how could anyone think differently?  It's rare that she actually has a paycheck more than $5, since her motto is "I work for clothes!."   Sounds good to me!  Anna also goes to school, babysits, and is always going to some party or dance (hence the need for cute clothes!). She is the one who helps me with the mannequins and the windows....you can sure tell that she loved to play with her Barbies when she was young!

Emily was my very first employee at That Girl.  She started maybe 2 weeks after the store opened, and she worked her butt off right alongside me to get the store up and running.  I remember more than a few times we stayed late after the store closed to reorganize, etc... usually with cocktails and much laughter!  Emily is super outgoing and fun and seems to know everyone.  She has an idea a minute & the two of us together can come up with an idea or a solution for anything as our minds work together exceedingly well.  Since her schedule is crazy with law school, a law internship, and her primary job at Caribou, she was forced to quit That Girl last July, but still works with me on Mondays on Ebay.

Salvador is our fabulous graphic artist on staff.  He is the one who does our adorable coupons & ads and came up with "Ginger," the ever-present red-head in every ad we do (and yes, of course we had to name her!).  Ginger always has an amazing new outfit and hairstyle in each & every ad and that is all thanks to Sal.  From Mexico, he has been living here for the last year, but unfortunately, must return to his homeland.  Because he loves working at That Girl, he is going to continue doing so via email, and hopefully, will be returning to Royal Oak very soon!  And just for record, he vehemently opposes our use of "THE GIRLS" as the name we are using for this employee page saying he is NOT a girl (even though his favorite color is purple, and he loves teddy bears...hmmm).  We understand, but haven't figured out a better name....any suggestions??

Avi is an honorary employee at That Girl.  Tressah's 4 year old daughter, she has actually "worked" at the store "helping" customers pick out outfits and "reorganizing" hangers, jewelry, & such.  There is little difference besides age between Tressah & Avi as Avi is a miniature Tressah: adorable, blond, outgoing, & loud.  She has big plans to work at the store one day on a full time basis, and if the store is around when she's old enough, we would LOVE to have her!

Pictured above with me is my husband Kurt.  Although Kurt does not actually work at the store, we sure could not function without him!  He is our computer tech, builder, handyman, & all around maintenance man.  He is a complete jokester, and always has something funny (at least HE thinks it is!) to say or do.   All "the girls" love him (I think!) and are used to his shenanigans, and even sometimes beat him at his own game which is really funny! Anna is his personal favorite (he's told me if he had a daughter, he would want her to be just like Anna) as she is his little helper while the rest of us look on perplexed.
